In the mean time, here is the trailer for Favela on Blast, the directorial debut Grammy award winning and unstoppable DJ and mega producer Diplo (Wesley Pentz) and his partner Leandro HBL. Often portrayed as a dark, violent and ruthless world by the global media, Favela on Blast turns the traditional image of Brazil’s notorious favela’s, or slums, on its head to document the vibrant, dynamic and innovative musical subcultures that originate from them. Underneath the radar for over thirty years, this colorful music scene is getting the attention it deserves thanks to Diplo, Mad Decent and Brazilian filmmaker Leandro HBL. The film captures it all through the life and times of the MC’s, DJ’s, dancers and cultural producers responsible for this exciting cultural hub.
As I said before, Brazil is unstoppable, literally everyone is jumping on the Brazilian bandwagon, and this isn’t a bad thing. Putting a Big, fat B in BRIC.
