The Stu Reid Experiment mentioned in a blog post concerning this band; “The Drums must really like summer.” As one listens through the entire album literally titled “Summertime!” (yes with an exclamation mark), it becomes clear that TSRE’s little remark is one large understatement.
They’re like one of those people at a party whose had something really great happen to them, and as a result, talk about that good thing and ONLY that good thing. Even with what seems to be an annoying seasonal fetish, “Summertime!” is throughly enjoyable to listen to, it includes songs about surfing, girls and makes one think that they’re lying on a beach in SoCal circa 1966 (oh summer of ‘66, how I remember that so well).
I highly recommend one get this album (whether legally or illegally is your choice), sync it to your iPod, and then place that iPod on a portable speaker system that can easily be brought to the beach.
These beats are perfectly suited for:
* Collecting lovely sun rays on Kits Beach, English Bay, Third Beach and Spanish Banks this summer in Vancouver.
* Collecting lovely sun rays at any beach wherever in this large world you may be.
These beats are not so suited for:
* Negative temperatures, rainy days in the summer, studying for exams in December, or being miserable in a bus full of happy people.
